Jumping into June: Jumpsuits for all! #jumpingintojune

Me Made May may only just have started, but let me announce to you the next go-to event in the sewist’s diary:

Jumping into June! Sew a jumpsuit for June.

Yes, I know I said I would never sew a jumpsuit, not because of any fashion considerations but because of the bathroom practicality implications. But somehow (and I assure you, alcohol was not involved on my side!) Ali of Thimberlina and I talked ourselves into making jumpsuits, provoked by what may have been a throw-away remark Teresa of Navybluethreads may live to regret ;-). You can read the “making of” of this idea in the comments to this post.

In true spirit of sewing awesomeness (BECAUSE WE CAN!!!) Amanda of Sew Deputy and Neela of SewFusion  have joined up as well. So this is GBSB royalty involved, you know!!

So while there aren’t any rules or any prizes we would still love you to join us as well in making either your first or one of many jumpsuits in June.

Of course there is a hashtag #jumpingintojune for Twitter.

I also created a Pinterest board suitably named Jumping into June (nobody say I’m not getting the hang of all this social media stuff!). It contains some Burda pattern inspiration, in case you are not afraid of the missing seam allowances. If you would like to pin to this board let me know and I’ll add you.

So if you would like to join us in celebrating the jumpsuit, let me know in the comments and I will add your link to the list. Thimberlina will even make a button – I stand in awe!

x Chris

Wow, you really are notching up all the fashion makes, culottes, bomber jackets and now jumpsuits! I instantly thought I would not feel tempted, because June is cold down under, but then I see you have pinned jumpsuits with sleeves. Thinking, thinking..

Oh, this made me laugh so loudly, hilarious! I guess I’m going to have to join the crowd, seeing as sewing royalty are involved 😉 Anyone know any patterns suitable for shorties?

    Hop aboard!!!
Have you tried lekala? Have a look at the Pinterest board – I’ve pinned a couple of their patterns. 😃

Haha, well I’m jumping on the jumpsuit wagon too. I have a Lekala one since last year and my goal was to sew it during June, as it has waited too long and I love jumpsuits. I’ve also fallen in love with this one by Republique du Chiffon http://www.republiqueduchiffon.com/store/product/44/ but I’m scared of the buttons.
